At the Zoo

Setting up for a Phototelling page.

After the Lunar New Year special event at the Woodland Park Zoo , I visited on 2022-02-05 on a cool damp afternoon, turned "Save Photo Location" on in my Android camera app, and took some pictures, mostly of the colorful fabric-covered structures used in the night-time special event, as they had been partly dismantled.

In the West Parking Lot

In a fenced-off parking lot near the west entrance, many of the illuminated sculptures for the event were marshalled waiting to be taken back into storage. I looked in from two corners and held my phone camera over the top of the fence.

Through a gap in the northeast corner I took a picture of a red-faced Lunar New Year's personality. The bright figures with lightbulbs inside reminded me of Disney's Main Street Electrical Parade.

In the Zoo

Bright fabric sculptures were scattered about the zoo, some of them gigantic like the dragon and the shark, some of them merely oversized animals, flowers, and trees in little tableaux.

It must have been quite an event. There were picture frames for getting your picture taken with a lit-up fabric sculpture of one of the animals from the zoo.

There were crews busy dismantling the fabric sculptures for removal. They were not in a hurry, and they made space for zoo visitors.

The upended wasp looked like it had been pinned by what had been its support as part of the evening display.

Cicadas on the trees on the way out, two orders of magnitude overscale and looking a little rainbow-y, but pretty realistic in shape and detail, as well as their tree-trunk perches.

That's not just any shark in the west entry plaza, it's a **walk-through shark** pavilion that **glows in the dark**.

**MAP ALL THE THINGS!** All the markers on one map.
